Hunting permitsIn Ontario, the provincial Ministry of Natural Resources regulates all hunting activities and provides a variety of information for hunters. Click here to access the Ministry’s online resource that provides all the latest news and information on hunting in the province.

Licenses and permits

To hunt migratory game birds (e.g. waterfowl) in Ontario, most hunters require:

  • A Federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit
  • A Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp
  • An Outdoors Card, and
  • A small game licence tag

Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permits and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamps can be purchased at any Canada Post office in Ontario. Click here for more information about how to obtain your Ontario Outdoors Card and hunting licence.

Please remember you must carry all appropriate licences and permits with you at all times while hunting.
