North American Wetlands Conservation Act

North American Wetlands Conservation ActThe North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) is an innovative piece of legislation in the United States that is a cornerstone of wetland conservation in North America. NAWCA provides matching grants to organizations and individuals who have developed partnerships to carry out wetlands conservation projects in the United States, Canada, and Mexico for the benefit of wetlands-associated migratory birds and other wildlife.

The requirement that NAWCA funds be matched has leveraged significant funding in the U.S., Canada and Mexico to protect millions of acres of habitat across the continent and has turned the NAWMP partnership concept into a successful reality.
