Our Progress

DUC conservation efforts take many forms. On-the-ground work is guided by the wetland and environmental research of DUC’s scientists. DUC works to change policy in favour of wetland and habitat conservation. DUC also delivers wetland and environmental education programs to teach Canadians about wetlands and the need to conserve them. At the end of the day, what does this all mean? Improving habitat means more ducks! Here’s where we stand today:
Conserving Canada’s Wetlands
- DUC has conserved wetland habitats in Canada since 1938
- DUC is active in every province and territory
- DUC’s conservation activities include:
- restoration, securement and management of wetlands and their associated habitats
- public policy development
- wetland and waterfowl research
- public environmental education
Committed to Conservation
Working with private and public landowners and land managers lets DUC develop sustainable land use solutions that incorporate wetlands and all that they offer to waterfowl, other wildlife and people.
Grassroots Support
In addition to a complement of more than 400 dedicated DUC employees, a tremendous network of volunteers assists DUC in raising funds at the grassroots level to support our conservation efforts across the country.
